Bach’s Goldberg Variations gained popularity with  the landmark 1956 recording by Canadian pianist Glen Gould. Since then the Variations, originally intended for harpsichord, have been transcribed for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles, including the synthesizer. The arrangement for string trio featured in this concert is by Russian/American violinist Dmitry Sitkovetsky.
